Try To Remember
We owe September an apology.
Still steaming from August’s heat, looking ahead to October's cool, we neglected September, old September, and for that we are the fool.
September is summer's death and fall's father. It is hot, cold and normally pennant-clinching.
It is the month of our father's birthday.
Happy Birthday to all fathers. Goodbye to all the bees and most of the butterflies that September will not relinquish.
We failed, just like last year, to recognize September's charm and grace.
It has apples. Millions of them.
Owning not promising beginnings nor dramatic ends or even contemplative middles, it is only September and, upon too much reflection and regret, we decide to take September with us...
...if she will come along. --TK
