Time can be inimical, a hostile adversary if you let it.
Or, the seconds, the minutes, the hours, the days, the weeks, the months, the years, the decades, the lifetime of watching the unwavering black sky smirk at you can be an ally.
There is comfort in knowing that the hands of the clock bruise us all while we sip something sweet as summer takes the girls, the songs, and our every thought.
“Pay attention,” she told you that callow summer when she would read her paperback and tell you some of the plot while you tried to count the birds on the beach.
