Hold On

2022 has taken a bullet. Two bullets. One to the gut, the other to the neck.

And now it stumbles down the cold, darkened alley and knows it’s almost over, the distant neon lights reflected faintly in the muddy puddles which are being further deepened by drops of blood.

“If only,” 2022 thinks. “If only I had done…more…if only…”

2022 stumbles to its knees.

“If only Michigan hadn’t fumbled. If only…”

2022 manages a smile as it takes a final breath, knowing a song is out there somewhere. --TK
