“It’s a hive mind,” Sabrina Swiftshoe says between sips of her gin and Squirt. “That’s what I long held to. It’s just not a good song but everyone wants to think it is. Corporate zombies.”

“But,” Harold Impanamente says, “you don’t believe that anymore? You acknowledge that while Vince Vance and The Valiant’s ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’, which was released in 1989 is far superior to Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ which was released in 1994, you do actually like Mariah’s song even though it’s played 12 million times a day between Thanksgiving and Christmas?”

“Yes,” Sabrina sips and wipes a tear from her cheek. “Yes. I acknowledge.”

Harold rubs her shoulder. He loves her so.

“What made you change your mind about Mariah’s song?” Harold asks.

Sabrina lets a tear fall into her glass and swirls it into her drink.

“I listened to it,” she confesses. “I listened closely.”

They embrace.
